This blog is not primarily financially driven. Regardless, since December 1, 2009, the FTC requires bloggers to disclose whenever there could be hidden interests or unspoken biases related to recommendations. So here goes…
First, the obvious: I am a professional baseball player. That means I get a lot of free stuff.
Second, the less obvious: Per the FTC rules, if I interview someone for a blog and they pick up the bill for lunch, I would need to disclose that. The same goes for if some company gives me a nice t-shirt with a logo and I wear it in a photo.
If I put this in every post, it would be tedious for me and even more tedious for readers. But rules are rules, so I have to mention it.
